Winner of the 2016 Opera Awards as “best young conductor of the year”, he is considered one of the most interesting conductors of his generation on the international scene.
Next season he will debut at Covent Garden in London (Lucia di Lammermoor), Wiener Staatsoper (Elisir d’amore, La Fille du regiment), Opera de Montecarlo (Il Pirata), the opening title at Rossini Opera Festival 2019 with Moïse et Pharaon, as well as his return to Opéra de Paris (Adriana Lecouvreur) and at Bayerische Staatsoper (Turandot).
Born in Giulianova, he completed his piano studies and graduated in orchestra conducting with great honors at the Conservatory in Pesaro.
His formation as an operatic conductor was strongly influenced by his studies with great conductors from the Italian school such as Donato Renzetti, Bruno Bartoletti and Renato Palumbo.
He then developed his symphonic repertoire with Gianandrea Noseda, Colin Metters, Piero Bellugi and Vladimir Ponkin.
In 2009 he won the International Competition for conductors “Giuseppe Patanè”.
He debuted in Italy in 2009 for As.Li.Co (Hänsel und Gretel, Cenerentola), then continued at Festival Valle d’Itria in a belcanto trilogy (Gianni di Parigi, Aureliano in Palmira, Zaira) and in some of the most important lyric Foundations in Italy, such as Teatro Lirico di Cagliari (La Traviata), Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova (Madama Butterfly), Teatro La Fenice di Venezia (Madama Butterfly).
Simultaneously he debuted in Germany in Lübeck (Carmen, Mefistofele, Hänsel und Gretel), Hamburg (Cenerentola) and Dresden (Cenerentola); in France in Limoges (La Traviata) and in U.S.A in Seattle (Cenerentola).
The success in these theaters launched him definitively into the international opera scene: Opéra de Paris (Cenerentola, Capuleti e Montecchi, Barbiere di Siviglia, Werther, Carmen, Traviata , Elisir d’amore, Madama Butterfly, Adriana Lecouvreur), Bolshoi in Moscow (Don Carlo, Un ballo in maschera), Bayerische Staatsoper München (Cenerentola, La Favorite, Elisir d’amore, Turandot), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Il Trovatore, Il Viaggio a Reims, La Bohème), Liceu Barcelona (Il Viaggio a Reims), Maestranza in Sevilla (Cenerentola), Opernhaus Zürich (Elisir d’amore), just to name a few.
In 2015 he debuted with Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where he conducted the opening title in 2018, Ricciardo e Zoraide.
He also conducted at Glyndebourne Festival (Don Pasquale) and at Festival dell’Arena di Verona (Il Barbiere di Siviglia).
He regularly holds symphonic concerts with orchestras such as Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, Haydn Orchester Trento e Bolzano, Filarmonica della Fenice di Venezia, St. Petersburg Philarmonic, Real Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla, Essener Philarmoniker.
